Today I am reading 1 Peter 2. The scripture opens up telling us to rid ourselves of malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. We need to crave the pure spiritual milk so that we can grow up in our salvation. This made me think of purity. We are told to rid ourselves of our old sinful lives, feelings, and desires. I feel like that stuff just clouds our eyesight, confuses our mind, and clogs our ears. As we are checking our heart and ridding ourselves of these things, we start to crave new things. The things of God are being built up in us. Verse 11 talks about how sin wars against our soul. This chapter tells us how the Lord wants us to live. Not by using the freedom we have in him to keep sinning, but to rid ourselves of the sin. Sin does not have power over us. God wants what is best for us, He wants to put desires, cravings in us for righteous living. He wants our life to be a witness and glorify Him but pointing others to Him.
