“Instead fully immerse yourselves into the Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, and don’t waste even a moment’s thought on your former identity to awaken its selfish desires.” – Romans 13:14 The Passion Translation.
This stood out to me because it is hard to live in our world today and not get caught up in the things around us. In our feelings and fleshly reactions. To identify first with our flesh, instead of identifying first with Christ. When we do that, our opinions no longer matter. What matters is what the Word of God says. What matters is what we are commanded to do whether our flesh likes it or not. A huge one of those is loving our neighbors. Everyone is our neighbor the ones we like and the ones we don’t. It is not easy but if we fully immerse ourselves, the New Living Translation says “clothe yourself with the presences of the Lord Jesus Christ” then the work becomes His. Our work becomes surrender, and His work becomes changing our hearts. God is so good and faithful. He knows so much more than we do. I have to remind myself of this when loving my neighbor is hard.
