Genesis 1 tells the story of creation and a couple of things stood out to me when I was reading it. God made plants and trees bearing fruit and seed according to their kind; he made wild animals, livestock, and creatures that move along the ground according to their kind. And it says that He saw that it was good. Then scripture says “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female, He created them. Then God blessed them and said to them be fruitful and multiply…” (Gen. 1:27-28 NKJV)
Everything in creation that multiplies, multiplies after its own kind. Each time it says “And God saw that it was good. This made me think, how am I multiplying? I am going to reproduce what is at my root. Are my roots grounded in God or the world? Am I multiplying the thoughts, lifestyle, messages of the world, or am I multiplying those of God?
Creation is supposed to reproduce after its own kind. The world was never meant to be our kind. We do not bear the image of the world, but the image of God. So it made me take inventory of how I am multiplying; what type of fruit is evident in my life; and what reproducible seeds am I planting in the lives of my children and others that I meet?
