Fear?Fear – it comes to rob usSo many of us face fears, we have worries, we can’t see past our present situation and that scares us.Is it really fear we are feeling or is it a lack of trust? I am reminded of the story from Mark 4:37-41.
The disciples were afraid. They were in strange waters and it started to get really rocky. Suddenly they were no longer in control. They were focused on trying to save their lives. When their fear finally got the best of them they woke Jesus up. He simply calmed the waves and said “Why were you afraid? Don’t you have any faith?”
That simple, yet powerful question packs quite a punch. Do you have faith?
Is it really a question of fear or is it a question of faith? If we believe in Jesus, then we know as believers He is always with us. He is our provider, He is our protector. So if that is the case then why do we let fear enter into our lives. We know those things about Jesus, but do we believe He will do it for us?
In my life I have discovered that this is the real question. You see to trust that Jesus will do this for me means that I will have to give up control of the situation. Even in fear, I want to hold tight to that control as if it is only safe with me. I and all of us must remember that my situation/your situation is not a surprise to the Lord. He knows and has already been to the end of that situation.
So to let go of the fear is to trust in Him and to trust in Him means that we give up control.
